“Heirlooms: Memory and Cherished Objects” takes you on a journey of art and inspiration honoring the memories of loved ones murdered in terror attacks in Israel. It is a collection of pictures by photographer Jay Garfinkel, who lost his son Elon at the age of 43. While packing up his possessions Jay started thinking about how he wanted his son to be remembered. He began photographing important objects in Elon’s life, as a way of continuing his legacy.
For fourteen months Jay met with other families who have lost loved ones and he created fine art photographs. The exhibition is a collection of photos of personal objects left behind by people whose lives were brutally cut short by terror. Behind every picture is a journey that celebrates life, hope and choice.
]]>Beit Avi Chai has just opened registration for a new 10-week experiential course for teenagers who love photography.
In the workshop they will explore together how the camera, combined with life’s philosophical questions, allow us to see the world and ourselves, anew.
Meetings will be field-based. Each week, participants will explore different ideas and techniques to capture the perfect picture. And, at the end of the course, the students personal projects will be displayed in an exhibition at Beit Avi Chai.
The course is being run according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health Green Pass system.

]]>Late at night, everyone is asleep… wait, not everyone! There’s one woman who is actually very busy at night – she goes about arranging the whole world: she gathers the moonlight that scattered on the sidewalks, sorts out eggs before they hatch, and fixes up all the lullabies. So if you haven’t gone to bed yet either – maybe you could come and help?
A show inspired by Mother Goose lullabies, combining puppets, songs, chatter, and one terribly organized woman.
]]>Noa really doesn’t feel like doing her family tree project. She has way more interesting things to do. Besides, all the other kids have grandmas and grandpas with impressive heroic stories, and only her grandpa is not a pioneer, a warrior, or a hero.
Slowly and gently, with the help of special tree sculptures, shadows, live music, and even humor, Grandpa Hugo reveals his story to Noa. A stirring, compassionate story about a time when evil raged in the world, and on the inherent goodness of humankind. The story Grandpa Hugo tells Noa is full of love and courage, and it has only good people.
The play is based on the biography of Jacques Kano
In memory of Francois and Maria Knops and Rev. Jan Brujan of Belgium. Righteous among the nations.
